Wheato batted first and got off to a flier, with multiple boundaries in the first few overs. Seth took a very high catch to dismiss their best batsman and then good overs from Josh, Kkrish and Jed checked their run rate.
Unfortunately we let several balls go for 4 that should have been stopped and ultimately this cost us the match. Players need to remember if they are stopping a 4 they should be starting on the boundary and getting their body behind it.
Some good running in the final overs pushed the Wheato score up to 145 off their 20 overs. Josh and Cameron were the pick of the fielders.
In reply we had a slow first couple of overs but then Jack smashed a few 4’s to pick up the rate. Oscar and Jed had a good partnership setting the chase up nicely. Tommy batted well with Seth and we were back with the rate with 4 overs remaining. Two run outs dented the run chase but then Arthur gave the team hope with some terrific shots. In the end he had been left with too much to do, Redbourn finishing on 141, 4 runs short.
A positive from this game was that 7 batsman made significant contributions to the score, which is now approaching our aim of scoring at 8 an over.
