U12s run OA’s close
A good crowd witnessed a thrilling contest of high skill and drama at the Rec which went to the last over. The Unicorns bowled first, with Hugo hitting a fantastic length straight away, seaming the ball around to remove a couple of top order batters. And with Saketh generating considerable pace it was proving very difficult to score. Our bowlers were consistently getting swing with Luke, Jed and Oscar nibbling skilfully away at off stump picking up wickets, and Arthur bamboozling a batter with a clever disguised quicker ball. Some lovely flighted spin from Seth, Charlie and Tommy coupled with raw pace of Jack and Cam saw them scramble to 130 all out. The fielding was top notch with fielders flinging themselves around to save runs and backing up really well.
Our assault got off to steady start with runs hard to come by due to some accurate pace bowling, and the innings was bedevilled by wickets falling at unfortunate times when partnerships were starting to form. OA’s fielded very well with Tommy caught just as he was getting going, and Seth run out after building a solid foundation.
Cometh the hour cometh the men, as Saketh kept the fielders hands warm with some fiery strokes that saw him eventually retire undefeated, ably supported by Cam, Luke, Jack, and a swashbuckling innings by Hugo that saw some nervous fielders appealing for everything as we moved into the final over, finishing only 10 runs short of the summit. Well done chaps, a great evenings cricket all round!
